3. Now pour the contents of the jars into a deep saucepan, add citric acid and granulated sugar. Bring the liquid to a boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved.
4. As soon as everything boils, pour the compote back into the jars. Cover with lids and let stand for another 10 minutes. Repeat the third step two more times.
