Onigiri is a traditional Japanese dish that has long been served in our restaurants, so why don’t we repeat these simple recipes in our own kitchen? This dish is a small “pie” shaped in the shape of a triangle and complemented with a variety of fillings, as well as a strip of nori seaweed. If you love fish and seafood, great, fill the onigiri with canned tuna in its own juice or red fish fillet. If you like meat - great, we'll use poultry.
Homemade tuna onigiri
Homemade tuna onigiri is an excellent option for a hearty and nutritious snack that you won’t have to spend more than 60 minutes preparing. And the main advantage of this dish is the fact that it is very convenient to take it with you to work or school, because the taste is not lost even when cold.
- Rice for sushi 200 (grams)
- Water 400 (milliliters)
- Rice vinegar 1 (tablespoons)
- Salt 1 (tablespoons)
- Granulated sugar 2 (tablespoons)
- Sesame 2 (tablespoons)
- Nori 2 (things)
- Tuna canned 200 (grams)
- Green onion 1 bunch
- Mayonnaise 3 (tablespoons)

Onigiri is easy to prepare at home.Pour the thoroughly washed cereal with cold water and leave for 20 minutes so that the rice is slightly saturated with moisture.

After the time has passed, pour the liquid along with the grains of rice into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then turn down the heat and cover with a lid and cook for 15 minutes. At the end of the heat treatment, let it brew for 15 minutes.

In a separate bowl, prepare the dressing: combine vinegar, sugar, salt and a little hot water. Pour the resulting solution into the finished cereal and mix thoroughly.

For the filling, rinse the green onion feathers, shake off excess moisture and cut into rings.

Carefully open the tuna and place it on a plate, add herbs and mayonnaise and mash with a fork until smooth.

Place the cooled rice in the palm of your hand in the shape of a triangle, season with fish mixture and cover with cereal, giving it the shape of a triangle. Decorate with strips of nori and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Onigiri with chicken and cheese is a tasty and nutritious dish originally from Japan, which is very quickly gaining popularity in our latitudes. But this is not at all surprising, because the combination of sweet and sour rice with tender poultry meat is not only very appetizing, but also satisfying.
Cooking time – 40 min.
Cooking time - 20 minutes.
Portions – 3.
Ingredients:
- Round rice – 180 gr.
- Water – 200 ml.
- Chicken fillet – 150 gr.
- Hard cheese – 60 gr.
- Mayonnaise – 1.5 tbsp.
- Nori – ½ sheet.
- Salt – 1 pinch.
- Granulated sugar – 1 tbsp.
- Rice vinegar – 2 tbsp.
Cooking process:
Step 1. Clean the fillet from films and cook in salted water for 15-20 minutes, remove from the broth and let it cool. Cut the nori sheets into small segments.
Step 2.We wash the cereal in 3-4 waters and put it in a colander, after a few minutes we put the rice in a saucepan, fill it with water and, bringing it to a boil, simmer on minimal heat under the lid for 10-12 minutes. Next, remove the fireproof dish from the burner and leave the ingredient for about 10 minutes without touching the lid. Season the rice with a mixture of granulated sugar, vinegar and salt - mix.
Step 3. Cut the chicken into cubes or separate it into fibers, and also chop the cheese using a grater.
Step 4. In a bowl, combine the bird with mayonnaise and cheese.
Step 5. For molding, we need a special mold: lay out about 60 grams of rice and make a small depression, put 50 grams of cheese and chicken mass.
Step 6. Add about 70 grams of cereal on top and compact with a lid.
Step 7. Wrap one edge in a strip of nori.

Onigiri with crab sticks
Onigiri with crab sticks is an easy-to-prepare and budget-friendly dish that will definitely help you diversify your usual diet without any hassle and introduce something completely new, and even reminiscent of sushi! Your household will appreciate it - guaranteed!

Ingredients:
- Rice – 200 gr.
- Soy sauce – 50 gr.
- Crab sticks – 200 gr.
- Nori – 20 gr.
- Rice vinegar – 20 ml.

Step 1. Prepare the ingredients: remove the wrapper with surimi, rinse the rice thoroughly until the water is clear.
Step 2. In a small bowl, mix vinegar and soy sauce.
Step 3. Fill the cereal with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Immediately reduce the heat to low and cook covered for 15 minutes.After removing from the burner and without opening the lid, leave for another 20 minutes. Afterwards, season the rice with soy-vinegar mixture.
Step 4. Grind the crab sticks and form onigiri: put a handful of rice on your palm, top with the filling and again cereal, give it the shape of a triangle, and wrap the nori at the bottom.

Onigiri with shrimp
Onigiri with shrimp are triangular pies made from boiled and seasoned rice with a delicious filling, which in this recipe is seafood. If you are a lover of Asian cuisine, then onigiri will suit your taste!

Ingredients:
- Water – 300 ml.
- Rice – 100 gr.
- Shrimp – 120 gr.
- Salt – 2 pinches.
- Ground black pepper – 1 pinch.
- Nori - 1 sheet.
Cooking process:
Step 1. A few hours before the start of the cooking process, remove the seafood from the freezer and allow time to thaw. Then, boil them for 3 minutes in boiling, lightly salted water and cool.
Step 2. Boil the washed rice for 12-15 minutes, turn off the heat, stir the rice and leave covered for at least another 20 minutes.
Step 3. Peel and finely chop the shrimp, sprinkle with salt and ground pepper and mix.
Step 4. Divide the slightly cooled rice into 3 parts, place one on a plate and form a flat cake, place a third of the filling in the middle.
Step 5. Cover the filling with the cereal remaining on the sides and use your hands to give it a triangular shape. Wrap one edge with a cut sheet of nori. We do the same with the other two parts.
Step 6. Before serving, add ax sauce and pickled ginger to the dish and taste it. Bon appetit!

Onigiri with red fish at home is a quick and very tasty dish that will relieve you of hunger for a long time, and will also give you a lot of positive emotions that you will get from the incredible taste and pleasant aroma. Red fish and boiled rice are everyone’s favorite classic!

Cooking time - 15 minutes.

Ingredients:
- Round rice – 150 gr.
- Salmon (fillet) – 100 gr.
- Granulated sugar – ½ tsp.
- Salt – ½ tsp.
- Vinegar 6% – 1 tbsp.
- Nori - 1 sheet.
Cooking process:
Step 1. Check the fish for bones, rinse and pat dry with paper towels. Place in a bowl and sprinkle with salt and granulated sugar, also pour in vinegar - rub and leave to soak for 1-2 hours.
Step 2. Pour the thoroughly washed cereal into a saucepan and fill it with hot water, boil over low heat for 15 minutes. Next, mix and leave for greater swelling (under the lid).
Step 3. The finished base should be both sticky and crumbly; it is recommended not to remove the lid before use.
Step 4. Scoop up the slightly cooled rice with the palm of your hand and place it on a dish, lay strips of marinated fish on top - cover with a handful of cereal and shape it into a triangle.
Step 5. For convenience, glue a strip of nori.

Onigiri with cucumber
Onigiri with cucumber is a light and refreshing appetizer that will decorate any holiday table, as well as an aperitif before a family lunch or dinner. Despite the simple list of products, the finished dish will surprise you with its pleasant taste.
Cooking time – 35 min.
Cooking time - 15 minutes.
Portions – 12 pcs.
Ingredients:
- Round rice – 200 gr.
- Water – 250 ml.
- Salt – 1 pinch.
- Cucumber – 30 gr.
- White sesame – 1 tbsp.
- Nori – ½ sheet.
- Dill – 5 sprigs.
Cooking process:
Step 1. Wash the green ingredients and allow time to dry, rinse the rice thoroughly under running water and place on a sieve with fine holes.
Step 2. Pour the rice into a ladle and add water, salt, bring to a boil, cover with a lid and cook for 10-12 minutes over low heat. Afterwards, steam the cereal for about 15 minutes, stir and cool.
Step 3. Cut the fresh cucumber into thin round slices.
Step 4. Chop the greens with a sharp knife.
Step 5. Mix dill and rice in a deep container.
Step 6. Make balls from the adhesive mass and lightly press them to the surface. We roll some in sesame seeds and wrap some in nori.
Step 7. Place cucumber slices on top.

Onigiri without rice vinegar
Onigiri without rice vinegar is a traditional snack in Japan, the recipe for which we will tell you today in great detail. And having prepared such a dish only once, you will return to it again and again, because the combination of tuna and green onions is impossible not to love!

Ingredients:
- Rice – 400 gr.
- Tuna – 130 gr.
- Green onion – 4 feathers.
- Granulated sugar – 3 tbsp.
- Soy sauce – 4 tbsp.
- Apple cider vinegar – 1 tbsp.
- Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp.
- Nori – 2 sheets.
- Miso paste – 2 tbsp.
- Ground black pepper - to taste.
Cooking process:
Step 1.First of all, prepare the dressing: mix granulated sugar and salt, add vinegar and a little hot water - stir until the crystals dissolve.
Step 2. Boil the rice according to the instructions on the package, pour in the vinegar solution and stir. Distribute the boiled cereal in an even layer on a baking sheet and cover the top with a sheet of baking paper coated with vegetable oil.
Step 3. For the filling, combine finely chopped onion, tuna, miso paste and ground black pepper.
Step 4. Wet your palms in water and separate a little rice, form a ball and make a hole in the center - fill it with filling and form a triangle or oval.

Fried onigiri
Fried onigiri is an incredibly tasty and aromatic Asian dish that will captivate you even at the first “meeting”. The main secret of successful cooking is the correct cooking of rice, because the cereal in this dish acts as the basis, so there is no way to spoil it.
Cooking time – 35 min.
Cooking time - 10 min.
Portions – 8.
Ingredients:
- Japanese rice – 300 gr.
- Water – 400 ml.
- Salt – ½ tsp.
- Soy sauce – 2 tsp.
- Sunflower oil - for frying.
- Sesame seeds - to taste.
For filling:
- Shiitake mushrooms – 130 gr.
- Garlic – 1 tooth.
- Sunflower oil – 0.5 tsp.
- Teriyaki sauce – 2 tsp.
Cooking process:
Step 1. Quickly fry a clove of garlic in hot vegetable oil, no more than 60 seconds. Remove the prong and add the chopped mushrooms, cook for 8-10 minutes with the addition of teriyaki sauce, until the moisture evaporates and turns golden. Place on a plate and cool.
Step 2.Wash the cereal in 3-4 waters, rubbing the grains through your fingers. Place in a colander.
Step 3. Pour the rice into a saucepan, add water and cook for 10-12 minutes after boiling under the lid over moderate heat. During the cooking process, do not open the pan and stir the component. After the time has passed, keep the rice covered for another 10-20 minutes.
Step 4. Pour sesame seeds into the cereal, add soy sauce, a little salt, and mix gently. Cover the base with a damp linen napkin so that the rice does not dry out.
Step 5. Take a large handful of rice in your palm, level it and make a hole in the center with your finger for the filling.
Step 6. Add 1-2 teaspoons of mushrooms and give the onigiri the desired shape.
Step 7. Fry the rice triangles in hot vegetable oil until a characteristic crust forms. We try to carefully turn over without disturbing the integrity.
