Step 1. Boil the potatoes at your convenience. For small quantities of root vegetables, I use the microwave. My herring has already been peeled and filleted. Remove the skin from the red onion. Rinse fresh cucumbers and herbs under running water and dry.

Step 2. I use a fairly large cutting method. Peel the potatoes and cut them.

Step 3. Pat the herring fillet dry with paper towels to remove excess oil and cut as shown in the photo.

Finnish salad “Rosols” with herring is a dish that you should like if you are not averse to diversifying your usual menu and finding new tastes. Perhaps adherents of the usual home-cooked food will doubt it when they see the composition of the salad. But I recommend putting aside all doubts and just preparing it. You will be surprised how there will be no trace of doubt left.

Step 3. Adjust taste with salt and granulated sugar. If desired, you can sprinkle with acetic acid.

Step 4.Pour boiling water over it and set aside to marinate so that there is no bitterness in the salad.

Step 5. Cut the root vegetables and eggs as desired, but respect the cutting size so that the appetizer looks presentable. Place the ingredients in a sufficiently large bowl.
