Herring under a fur coat with the addition of apple

Not quite the usual version of the well-known salad. The apple gives it freshness and lightness, combining perfectly with the other ingredients. Try to prepare this very tasty and unusual dish, adding variety to your holiday table.

Ingredients:

  • Herring (fillet) – 0.3 kg
  • Apples – 0.3 kg.
  • Beetroot – 0.3 kg.
  • Chicken eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Low-calorie mayonnaise – 1 package.
  • Potatoes – 0.3 kg.
  • Onion – 1 medium sized head.
  • Carrots – 2 pcs.

Cooking process:

1. Rinse the beets well to remove any remaining soil and place them in a saucepan. Fill it with enough water and boil until tender. Don’t forget that beets take a long time to cook (up to 2-3 hours depending on size), take this into account before you start preparing the salad. Check the readiness of the beets with a fork: if it easily pierces the vegetable, then you can remove the pan from the heat. Drain the water from the pan and let the beets cool.

2. Rinse the potatoes and carrots very thoroughly under running water, and then boil until soft. You should be careful with these vegetables; they cook much faster than beets and can simply fall apart if overcooked. When both the carrots and potatoes are cooked, drain the water and transfer them to a plate to cool further. Boil the eggs in another pan for 10 minutes after boiling.

3. Peel the onions and cut them into fairly small cubes. To prevent the onion in the salad from becoming bitter, it will be better if you pour boiling water over it for 10 minutes. After such steaming, the vegetable will acquire a delicate taste without a single hint of bitterness. Drain the water thoroughly and squeeze the onion.

4. The herring needs to be cut into small pieces, simultaneously removing the bones (if any).

5. Cooled vegetables (beets, carrots and potatoes). Peel and grate the eggs separately on a medium grater.

6. Wash the apples, peel them (you need to cut them off in a very thin layer, it is better to use a special vegetable peeler). Remove the seeds and grate the apples using a medium grater.

7. Everything is ready, it’s time to start assembling the salad in layers. First, place a layer of grated potatoes on an oblong plate. Pour a layer of mayonnaise over it (you can make a mesh, or you can gently smear it). This is followed by a layer of finely chopped herring, sprinkled with mayonnaise. After the fish, lay out a layer of onions with a mesh of mayonnaise. The fifth layer is grated carrots, along with grated eggs, which also need to be covered with a layer of mayonnaise. The sixth layer is grated apples and a grid of mayonnaise. The beets are laid out in the very last layer, completely covering all previous layers. The top of the salad can be decorated with mayonnaise mesh and fresh herbs.

A simple and tasty recipe for lazy herring under a fur coat with egg

It often happens that there are boiled beets left in the refrigerator and housewives are racking their brains about what to cook with them. Try cooking “lazy” herring under a fur coat. By the way, such a quick and tasty appetizer is perfect for dinner or a family lunch.

Ingredients:

  • Herring (fillet) – 1 pc.
  • Beets – 1-2 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise – 1-2 tbsp. l.
  • Garlic cloves – 2 pcs.
  • Chicken eggs – 4 pcs.
  • Onion – ½ pc.
  • Several sprigs of parsley or dill for decoration.

Cooking process:

1. If you have already prepared all the ingredients, then preparing lazy herring under a fur coat will take you no more than 10 minutes. Otherwise, it will take a little longer to cook.

2. First of all, you need to boil the beets (it is best to do this in advance, preferably in the evening). Rinse it under running water and place in a small saucepan. Pour enough water over the beets to cover the vegetable by about 2-3 fingers.Bring the water in the pan to a boil, and then reduce the heat. Cook the beets at moderate boil until soft (about 1-1.5 hours). When the vegetable can be easily pierced with a fork, it is ready. Make sure that the water does not boil away, otherwise the beets will cook unevenly. After cooking, remove the prepared vegetable to a plate and cool.

3. Boil the eggs in boiling water until cooked. You need to cook for at least 10 minutes so that the white and yolk have time to cook properly. After cooking, be sure to immerse the hard-boiled eggs in cold water, this will help you easily peel the eggs (beautiful and smooth eggs are the basis of our snack).

4. Peel the onions and garlic. Pass the garlic through a press and finely chop the onion. To prevent the salad from becoming bitter, you need to keep the slices of chopped onion in a bowl of boiling water for about 10 minutes. Drain the water and squeeze the onion.

5. Peel the cooled beets and grate them on a medium grater. Mix grated beets with onion and garlic. Add a few tablespoons of mayonnaise to the resulting mass and mix.

6. Cut the herring into thin slices, carefully checking for bones.

7. Peel the eggs and cut into 2 parts. Place the egg halves cut side up (the bottom can be trimmed a little to make our “tartlets” more stable), and place the beetroot filling on top. Place 1-2 pieces of fish on top of the filling.

8. Wash and dry the greens. Garnish each portion of lazy herring with fresh herbs. Place the appetizer in the refrigerator for a while and then serve.

Herring under a fur coat in lavash on the festive table

Try making the famous salad, but slightly change its presentation.Herring under a fur coat can be placed in a lavash roll, cut into portions. In addition to the fact that such a serving looks very original, it is also very convenient, because everyone can take a small piece to try. This salad serving is perfect not only for a home feast, but also for a buffet table.

Ingredients:

  • Herring – 1 pc.
  • Beets – 2 pcs.
  • Potatoes – 2 pcs.
  • Lavash – 1 package.
  • Mayonnaise - to taste.
  • Carrots – 2 pcs.
  • Chicken eggs – 4-5 pcs.
  • Fresh parsley or dill – 10 g.

Cooking process:

1. Wash the beets so that all the soil and dirt are washed off. Place the beets in a saucepan of cold water and boil until soft. Depending on the size of the vegetable, this will take you up to 1 to 2.5 hours. Don't forget to check the water level; when cooking beets, it often boils over. Peel the finished beets and grate them on a coarse grater.

2. In a separate pan, boil the washed potatoes and carrots until tender. Cool, peel and grate on a coarse grater.

3. Hard-boil the eggs (you need to cook them for 10 minutes in boiling water, and then keep them in very cold water for 5-10 minutes - this will make it easier to remove the shells). Grate chicken eggs using a fine grater.

4. Peel the herring from bones and cut into small pieces. To speed up the process, it is better to use herring fillets.

5. It’s time to start the process of assembling the herring under a fur coat in pita bread. To do this, take a piece of foil and place a sheet of pita bread on it. Coat it properly with mayonnaise (a thin layer).

6. The first layer should be grated boiled beets. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on top.

7. Place grated potatoes in a second layer. Then another layer of mayonnaise.

8.Next comes a layer of grated carrots, sprinkled with mayonnaise.

9. Then a layer of grated eggs and a mesh of mayonnaise.

10. Place the last layer of finely chopped pieces of herring.

11. Now you need to carefully roll the pita bread into a roll (help yourself with foil). Place the finished herring under a fur coat in pita bread in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours so that the pita bread is properly soaked and not dry. Before serving, cut the appetizer into fairly thin slices, which, if desired, can be sprinkled with finely chopped dill or parsley.

How to cook herring under a fur coat?

Herring under a fur coat in the form of a roll is a very original and interesting way to serve everyone’s favorite salad. A roll made from a “fur coat” is no worse than its counterpart from a salad bowl. Try it and see for yourself!

Ingredients:

  • Herring (fillet) – 250 g.
  • Beetroot – 4 pcs.
  • Salt and mayonnaise - to taste.
  • Carrots – 2-3 pcs.
  • Potatoes – 3-4 pcs.
  • Onion – 1 head.
  • Eggs – 2-3 pcs.

Cooking process:

1. It’s better to start preparing the salad a day before the celebration. First, rinse well and boil 4 beets (this will take you about 2-3 hours, everything will depend on the size of the vegetable).

2. Boil potatoes and carrots until soft. Now put all the vegetables in the refrigerator for a few hours (this procedure will prevent the vegetables from sticking together after you grate them).

3. Hard-boil the eggs (10 minutes in boiling water), and then cool in a pan of cold water for 5-10 minutes. Peel the eggs and grate them on a coarse grater.

4. Peel the potatoes, carrots and beets, and then finely grate them (each vegetable in a separate plate).

5. Peel the beets and grate them on a coarse grater.

6.Inspect the herring fillet for bones, and if there are any, remove them. Cut the fish into small pieces, no more than 0.5 millimeters thick.

7. Peel the onion and finely chop (diced). Combine the chopped onion and herring pieces and mix. If you want to make the taste of the onion less pronounced, then before combining it with herring, pour boiling water over the onion pieces for 5-10 minutes. Then drain the water, squeeze and add to the fish.

8. On the table, spread cling film of the size you plan to make the roll. First, add a layer of coarsely grated beets. You can add a little salt and press the beets with your hands so that the roll retains its shape better in the future.

9. Next add a layer of grated carrots. Please note that this layer should be narrower than the previous one by about 2-3 centimeters on each side. Pour over the mayonnaise mesh.

10. Place grated potatoes in a third layer. This layer should also be 2-3 centimeters narrower than the carrot layer. Also cover it with a layer of mayonnaise on top.

11. Place grated eggs on top of the potatoes, retreating 2-3 centimeters from the previous layer. Cover the eggs with a mesh of mayonnaise.

12. The last layer, right in the middle of the roll, is the herring with onions.

13. The most crucial moment comes - rolling the roll. Carefully, using cling film to help you, begin to wrap one end of the lettuce. Gradually, pressing layer by layer, roll the entire salad into a roll. Wrap it in cling film and put it in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours. During this time, the salad will have time to soak in, and the layers will stick together.

14.Before serving the salad, carefully remove it from the film, pour a small amount of mayonnaise, garnish with fresh herbs, and cut into portions.

A simple recipe for herring under a fur coat with egg and cheese

This version of preparing herring under a fur coat will definitely appeal to lovers of this salad. And even though it lacks some familiar ingredients, this does not affect the taste in any way. The salad is in no way inferior to the original, and maybe even wins.

Ingredients:

  • Beets – 2 pcs. medium size.
  • Herring (fillet) – 200 g.
  • Cheese – 120 g.
  • Potatoes – 2 pcs.
  • Sour cream – 110 g.
  • Mayonnaise – 110 g.
  • Chicken eggs – 3 pcs.

Cooking process:

1. The longest process of preparing this salad is the process of cooking the beets. Therefore, it is easiest to boil it the day before. Wash the beets thoroughly to remove all soil. Place the washed beets in a small saucepan with water and bring to a boil. When the water in the pan boils, reduce the heat to low and cook the root vegetable at a barely noticeable simmer for about 1.5-2 hours (cooking time depends greatly on the size of the beets). Check the readiness of the beets with a fork: if it easily enters the beets, then everything is ready and you can turn off the heat. Cool the boiled beets and then peel them.

2. Also, in addition to the beets, you need to boil the potatoes. There is no need to peel it; we will boil it directly with the peel. Rinse the potatoes well and cook in boiling water until soft (be careful not to overcook the potatoes, otherwise they will fall apart). Cool and peel off the peel. Cook the eggs after boiling for 10 minutes. Fill with cold water and then peel off the shells.

3.The herring needs to be checked for the presence of bones, remove them if there are any, and cut the fillets into small pieces.

4. The cheese must be shredded using a coarse grater.

5. Cut the peeled potatoes into small cubes, the size of herring cubes. Cut the peeled eggs into small cubes.

6. Grate the peeled beets using a coarse grater.

7. In a small bowl, mix 110 grams of sour cream and the same amount of mayonnaise. Mix well. The resulting sauce will need to be coated with each layer of our salad.

8. It's time to start laying out the ingredients in layers in the salad bowl. So, the first layer in this version of the salad is finely chopped herring. Spread the first layer with sour cream and mayonnaise sauce on top.

9. Place a second layer of potato pieces, which should also be coated with sauce.

10. The third layer is cheese, covered on top with a mesh of sour cream and mayonnaise sauce.

11. The fourth layer is crushed eggs, covered with sour cream and mayonnaise sauce.

12. In the fifth and last layer, place the beets grated on a coarse grater.

13. Decorate the top of the salad with a mesh of sauce and several sprigs of fresh parsley or dill. Place the herring under the fur coat in the refrigerator to soak for 3-4 hours, and then serve.

A very tasty recipe with the addition of gelatin

Almost everyone without exception loves herring under a fur coat. We bring to your attention a slightly unusual recipe that will allow you to ensure that the salad on the plate does not fall apart. The secret lies in the gelatin it contains. Interesting? Then let's start cooking.

Ingredients:

  • Herring fillet – 0.4 kg.
  • Beets – 2 pcs.
  • Onion – 1 head.
  • Chicken eggs – 5-6 pcs.
  • Gelatin – 15 g.
  • Mayonnaise – ½ pack.
  • Water – 100 ml
  • Carrots – 2 pcs.
  • Potatoes – 3 pcs.

Cooking process:

1. Rinse beets, carrots and potatoes thoroughly in running water. To prepare this option, we will not boil the vegetables, but bake them in the oven. Therefore, turn it on at 200ºС in advance. Dry the washed vegetables with a paper towel and wrap in foil.Place the vegetables on a baking sheet and place in a well-heated oven for 45 minutes (check the readiness of the vegetables with a knife or fork: if the vegetables are pierced well, you can remove them from the oven).

2. While the vegetables are baking, you can, in order not to waste time, boil 5 hard-boiled eggs. When the eggs are ready, place them in cold water. This simple trick will help you when peeling eggs: the shells will separate without any problems. Grate the eggs on a fine grater.

3. Dissolve 15 grams of gelatin in half a glass of water and leave to swell (about 25-30 minutes) when the gelatin swells properly, it will need to be dissolved in a water bath. Then add half a package of mayonnaise to the container with gelatin and mix thoroughly until the ingredients are completely mixed.

4. By this time, the baked vegetables should have cooled down, so peel the beets, carrots and potatoes. Grate each type of vegetable on a coarse grater into separate containers. Add 1-2 tablespoons of the mayonnaise and gelatin mixture to the plate with the beets and mix well.

5. Cover a rectangular container with cling film. Place the beets in the mold, distributing them evenly along the bottom and sides.

6. Inspect the herring for the presence of small seeds and chop finely. Add a few spoons of mayonnaise sauce.

7. Place a layer of grated carrots mixed with mayonnaise on the beets, then a layer of grated egg and finely chopped onions.

8. Place a layer of herring on the onion, and grated potatoes with mayonnaise on it.

9. If you have leftover ingredients, repeat the layers in any order, with one condition that the last layer is potatoes with mayonnaise.

10.Carefully cover the salad with the edges of the film and let it sit in the cold for at least 4-6 hours. Before serving, carefully remove the salad from the mold and turn it over so the beet layer is facing up. Decorate the salad at your discretion, cut into portions and serve.

Bon appetit to you and your guests!

In our family this dish has already become traditional. I also make it with apple, it gives it a piquant taste.I just always replace mayonnaise with 20% fat sour cream. It turns out to be a more dietary dish.
